Having said that, there have been plenty of "Targets for f\Faraway Laughter" in the past few weeks, and that is what this regular post will start to simply list!
Let's start with my two favourite people in Australia! Yes the PM Julia Gillard & her opposition Tony Abbott, and their first respective foray into international diplomatic travelling.
Have we chosen our leader wisely when the PM says "Foreign policy is not my thing!" Or does she mean to say "the deal with Kevin Rudd is I leave foreign policy to him, and that's fine by me because I don't like it anyway!"
And how about Tony Abbott's sharp mind? Is "avoiding Jet lag" is the best Mr Abbott can do at the top of his head in order to answer a tricky question a sad reflection of the quality of our leaders? Can you even imagine John Howard making such a huge gaffe?

Kristy Fraser Kirk & her PR managers & Lawyers are a target for faraway laughter! There is no doubt that Mark McInnes had committed an act which warranted compensation or he would not have voluntarily resigned. However, Ms Fraser Kirk is now the subject of reticule due to the pompous $37m claim & the subsequent refusal to give any of the $850,000 to charity as she originally declared because there was no "punitive payout"!Congratulations Kristy! In you acceptance speech of your "Target for faraway Laughter" you should thank your PR & legal minders for making a fool of you & themselves!
- Greg Norman for announcing he's engaged again! He's looking more like an old white trash than the Great White Shark he once claimed he was!
- Kristina Keneally & the NSW Labour Government: Keneally & her Government are ever present as targets for faraway laughter. My award simply acknowledges this fact! The latest stage managed spat with PM Gillard is yet another pathetic attempt to portray Keneally as a tough independently minded leader. This in my view only further qualifies her for a "target for Faraway laughter Award"!
- The last award for this edition goes to the Pope & the Catholic Church! They certainly know a thing or two about miracles! How else an organisation so badly tainted by its members' inexcusable misuse of public trust could still be able to claim the moral high ground & allowed to operate? Surely only a miracle could make that happen!
So Congratulations to the Pope & Catholic Church! They have been awarded a "Target for Faraway Laughter" award!
