Give the moderates led by Malcolm Turnbull a chance to negotiate amendments on ETS or you will be heading to oblivion by being portrayed as a bunch of ignorant rednecks who are simply "Big Business" stooges.
It's ok to argue for your electorate & oppose the Government's policy on how to tackle it! It's ok to raise your concerns in the party room!
But don't deny the fact that Climate Change is an urgent issue which needs to be dealt with!
Even worse, don't simply deny it without presenting a viable, credible & workable alternative solution!
By simply denying climate change, you sound like a bunch of out of touch redneck peasants who have never left their small towns in the bush before! No different to the gun carrying small town rednecks in the USA!
Keep acting with your heads in the sand & you will risk everything:
Alienate the younger more environmentally conscience voters.
- Make yourselves look like a bunch of out of touch redneck fools
- But most importantly, you will hand deliver the Liberal Party to the arms of the religious right factions waiting to take the Party to the same dungeon that the Republican Party in the USA has been taken to. The party will be hijacked by redneck ill informed ignorant right wing!

When Howard lost the 2007 election, the remaing Liberals immediatley became more moderate. 'Oh no, we're not that rightwing anymore', they said, 'that's in the past'. Turnbull admitted workchoices was wrong; Abbott admitted the NTI was wrong; Nelson weakly joined Rudd in apologising to the Aborgine SG.
This has made Liberal-right a no-go zone. Turnbull can't be too reactionary otherwise he'll be labelled a 'Howard' clone. Barnaby Joyce has been trying to do this, but has been getting a big media and public backlash, which suggests my theory is correct.
But Rudd is far more rightwing than your average Labor leader. He's abandonded his standard core group (Labor-left, Labor-centre) and had been focused on stealing Liberal support. He now is controlling territory in Labor-right, Liberal-left and Liberal-centre.
If Turnbull focuses on Liberal-centre, he'll be labelled 'me-too' for copying Rudd. If he focuses on Labor-left, he'll be attacked for abandoning the Liberal tradition.
Rudd is a very smart politician, and Turnbull is not. That's why we have this situation: Labor are going to control both houses in the next election; Liberal are going to spending the next three terms in opposition.
This has left this core base vulnerable for take-over. That is why Bob Brown has been pushing his party to the right; he's abandoning his core support (hard) and is trying to steal Labor-left and Labor-centre supporters.
This opens the door for a radical leftwing party to steal the hard-core left voters.
