The Greens supported minority Government of Julia Gillard is being take to far left by the Greens' dominated policy agenda and in doing so is irreversibly damaging the more moderate leaning aspects of Australia's political landscape.Make no mistake as many voters do! Many of us remain confused about the true policy stance of the Greens! The Greens are not the same as the pragmatic centrist Democrats who in their heyday were "keeping the bastards honest" by keeping the political debate in the centre.
The Greens are a far left party which will damage Australia in two substantial ways in the coming years by moving Labor to far left in order to appease the Greens, & coalition to far right in order to appease conservative anti green voters:
a) The Greens will attract the left leaning disenchanted Labor voters & hence will make it harder for Labor to initiate moderate centrist leaning policy initiatives, and
b) Their policies will drive the right leaning conservatives more to the the right & in doing so substantially diminish the much needed influence of moderate centrist conservative politicians in the coalition.
Thankfully, in our democratic system, Bob Brown & his team will eventually be held accountable for their policy decisions in the next Federal election at the latest. And if the recent state elections in NSW & Victoria are anything to go by, unless the Greens define a more palatable pragmatic political position, they will be punished at the polls!
